Amazon.com Inc made 2 preliminary attempts to purchase Deliveroo, the British online food delivery firm. The latest attempt was almost 9 Months back, the local media claimed this week. The attempts were investigative and have not developed, the local media claimed further, mentioning an investor well known with the issue. The first round was conducted two years back.
Deliveroo and Amazon were not instantly available for interview. Bloomberg, mentioning sources, claimed previous week that ride-hailing firm Uber Technologies Inc is in early discussion to purchase Deliveroo. If rumors are to be believed, Uber is in discussions to buy Deliveroo in order to branch out its operations for Uber Eats all over the world.
Speaking of acquirements by Amazon, the firm earlier this year purchased Ring, the video doorbell startup, in a decision that might assist the delivery arm of the Internet giant to reach into homes of the people. Financial conditions of the acquirement were not revealed, but online reports capitalized the deal at over 1 Billion Dollars. “We are eager to operate with this talented team and assist them in their assignment to keep homes secure and safe,” a spokesperson of claim to the media in an interview.
